Release 0.7.0

What is new in Orchemax 0.7.0 (preview, early access by invitation): honest time with a nightly rehearsal and seal gates scoped to what a change reaches, lessons that earn their place, test adapters per language and a publish guard that fails closed.

Orchemax 0.7.0 — preview, early access by invitation.

Terms used below: the Chair is the agent you talk to, which plans and coordinates the work; a worker is an agent the Chair starts for one task in its own copy of the code; a seal is the automatic check that closes a worker's task; landing is merging checked work into main and installing it.

Highlights#

Honest time#

  • A nightly rehearsal on a clone. The accepted branches are landed into a clone of the project and judged there, so you meet the verdict in the morning. A rehearsal records nothing: no landed state, refusals, flaky marks or timings, and it prints that nothing was recorded.
  • A land runs only what passed. Accepted work that failed its checks is left out and named; the rest lands.
  • Seal gates scoped to what a change reaches. The seal runs the default gate only when the change reaches it, and a change to a package judges the packages that depend on it.
  • One shared Go build cache. Audits, seals, rehearsals and orch doctor share one workshop cache, so a build is paid once.
  • The seal re-runs what a worker claimed. A test claim with no backing evidence is re-run and judged. The re-run accepts only an allow-list of flags, environment and package paths.
  • A docs freshness failure on a branch is a note. The land keeps the test, so a branch is not blocked by files only the land regenerates.
  • A worker ends when its work is done. Once its final result was seen, a worker ends after a grace period set by agents.result_grace_sec.
  • Prechecks before you finish. orch verify precheck runs the seal's call-line, dead-code and generated-file checks, and the seal notes when it never ran.

Learning#

  • Lessons on probation. A new lesson starts on probation and is settled by accepted green seals; a lesson that is never confirmed expires. orch learn list shows probation, and restoring a lesson puts it back on probation.
  • A cheap lesson proposer. Proposals come from a low-cost model, and each rejected or promoted proposal is logged.
  • A lesson curator. orch learn curate groups near-duplicate lessons and, with --apply, supersedes the redundant ones.
  • Acceptance tests a session with its siblings. Accepting a session runs one bounded, load-aware trial of it together with the sessions already accepted.
  • Rounds start on current main. A continued round merges local main before the agent starts and names conflicts in its first prompt; a seal refuses a branch whose base is behind main on files it changes.
  • A brief skeleton. orch brief new writes a brief that passes the lint.
  • Thinner seeds. The seeded guides are short pointers; the full principles ride the runtime document a seat gets at launch.

Agnostic#

  • Test adapters per language. orch test and orch repro route through a language adapter, and a missing adapter is named. The adapter receives the test name, runs under a timeout and is never left hung.
  • Environment skips are named. A skip for the environment must name a missing tool, a foreign OS or a condition; an unknown reason is refused.

Workshop and IP#

  • A publish guard that fails closed. A public repository's push is judged by file and by push range; binaries need an allowed extension and an invalid deny pattern refuses instead of passing.
  • A Chair outside Orchemax is warned. Starting a Chair without Orchemax tells you its gates and memory do not apply, and orch doctor does not create a stray database to say so.

Fixes#

  • A worker's bracketed paste and split terminal sequences reach the agent intact.
  • orch init is the only setup command named in user-facing text.
  • A fresh seat receives probation lessons.

Upgrade#

  1. Replace the binary in the install folder with the 0.7.0 one (see Install).
  2. Run orch doctor --fix in each workshop.
  3. Confirm with orch version, which prints 0.7.0 followed by the build commit and date.
