Release 0.4.0
What is new in Orchemax 0.4.0: core lessons and a Chair charter in every fresh workshop, faster seals, a landing command, a capacity scheduler, one installed binary, and safer cleanup.
Terms used below: the Chair is the agent you talk to, which plans and coordinates the work; a worker is an agent the Chair starts for one task in its own copy of the code; a seal is the automatic check that closes a worker's task (tests, rules, duplicates); landing is merging checked work into main and installing it.
Highlights#
- A fresh workshop starts complete. Seeding a workshop now ships the core lesson pack and a Chair charter, so the first seat already follows the rules that took the most mistakes to learn.
- Per-message lessons for any agent. Lessons and open items that match what an agent is doing reach it with each message, for every supported agent CLI, and a lesson is not repeated within the same session.
- Fast seals. A round seal runs only the tests a change touches;
orch landthen runs the whole touched packages and the packages that import them before main moves, and refuses the landing if any fails. orch land. One command merges a finished candidate into main, regenerates generated files and runs the full suite.- A capacity scheduler. Dispatch remembers which commits already passed, measures how long work really takes and derives timeouts from it, and keeps the number of heavy loads inside what the machine can carry.
- One installed binary.
orch doctornames stray copies oforchso you can delete them, andorch doctor --fixrepairs agent wiring in a workshop. - Seal checks that no longer misreport workers. A worker that finished its task is no longer called stalled, and a supervisor with a live child is never reaped.
Safety#
- The main checkout is never left bare by a land or a rebase.
- Scratch cleanup deletes only what
orchcreated: every delete is checked against an ownership marker and the real path first. - Writes are refused when the folder's workshop and
ORCH_CONFIGdisagree, so a command run in one workshop cannot change another. Read-only commands keep working.
Upgrade#
- Replace the binary in the install folder with the 0.4.0 one (see Install).
- Run
orch doctor --fixin each workshop. - Confirm with
orch version, which prints0.4.0.
Notes#
- Toasts and notifications now appear only when a human must act; routine events are grouped into one digest, and a repeated idle report stays quiet.
